Stella Sora Pity System: Guarantees and Banner Rules

How Does the Stella Sora Pity System Work?

The Stella Sora pity system lets you lose consecutive featured-character coin flips, so pulling an off-banner 5-star does not guarantee that your next one will be featured. On launch-era limited Trekker banners, the Stella Sora pity system combines a one-time 120-pull spark with a separate 160-pull featured-character guarantee. Understanding those two counters helps you decide whether to keep pulling, claim your character, or save for another banner.

The important distinction is what each counter tracks. The spark counts your total recruitments on that individual banner. Hard pity tracks progress toward a featured-character guarantee and resets when you recruit the featured Trekker.

Launch-era mechanicThreshold or rateWhat it does
Limited Trekker spark120 cumulative pullsLets you claim the featured character once per banner
Limited Trekker hard pityWithin 160 pullsGuarantees the current featured character
Base 5-star Trekker rate2%Chance of recruiting a 5-star before guarantee mechanics
Featured share of 5-star Trekker results50%Determines whether a 5-star result is the featured character
Featured Disc hard pityWithin 120 pullsGuarantees the featured Disc

These launch-era rules apply to the standard limited-banner structure described below. Version 2.0 introduces exclusive recruitment and anniversary events with their own names and rewards. Check the recruitment details on the specific banner before using these thresholds to plan an anniversary pull budget.

Start by identifying which guarantee you are approaching, rather than treating every recruitment counter as interchangeable.

The 120-Pull Spark: A Separate, One-Time Claim

The spark is the part of the Stella Sora pity system that rewards cumulative participation on one limited Trekker banner. After 120 recruitments, you can claim its featured character once.

Recruiting that character early does not erase your spark progress. If you pull the featured Trekker after 30 recruitments, you still have 30 pulls counted toward the spark, leaving 90 recruitments before the claim.

That makes the spark especially relevant when deciding whether to stop after an early success. Your character has arrived, but the banner’s cumulative reward remains available.

Your situationSpark progressWhat remains
You have made 30 pulls without the featured Trekker30 of 12090 pulls to the claim
You recruit the featured Trekker on pull 3030 of 120Still 90 pulls to the claim
You reach 120 cumulative pulls120 of 120Claim the featured Trekker once
The banner expires before you reach 120Progress expiresThe next banner starts its own spark

Why stopping halfway matters

Spark progress does not carry over when the banner expires. If you leave a banner after 90 pulls, those 90 recruitments do not become spark progress on the next one.

Your separate hard-pity progress follows different rules, but the unfinished spark itself is lost. Keep those two outcomes separate when evaluating a partial pull session.

Before spending, ask whether you actually want the featured Trekker enough to commit toward that banner’s claim. Avoid pulling purely to increase a counter when an early featured result would consume resources you wanted for someone else.

Should you finish the spark after an early character?

Only continue if you want the additional copy and accept the remaining cost. Pulling the featured character at 30 does not turn the remaining 90 pulls into a free reward.

The spark can be claimed once per banner. It is not a repeating reward every 120 recruitments. After claiming it, further copies depend on recruitment results and the separate hard-pity system.

The 160-Pull Guarantee, Resets, and Carryover

The other half of the Stella Sora pity system is the featured-character hard guarantee. On launch-era limited Trekker banners, you receive the current featured character within 160 recruitment attempts.

Stella Sora — The 160-Pull Guarantee, Resets, and Carryover

Recruiting the featured Trekker resets that counter. Recruiting an off-banner 5-star does not reset progress toward the featured guarantee.

This distinction explains why seeing a 5-star animation is not enough to work out your remaining pulls. You need to know whether the result was the banner character.

Losing the 50/50 does not guarantee your next 5-star

A 5-star Trekker result has a 50% chance of being the featured character. Losing that roll does not switch your next 5-star into a guaranteed featured result.

You can recruit multiple off-banner 5-stars consecutively while progressing toward the featured-character hard guarantee.

The 2% base 5-star rate and the 50% featured share answer different questions:

  • 2% base rate: How likely is a recruitment to produce a 5-star?
  • 50% featured share: When a 5-star appears, how likely is it to be the banner character?
  • 160-pull guarantee: How far can you go without recruiting the featured character?

Keep all three in mind. A relatively frequent 5-star result does not eliminate the risk of repeatedly missing your target.

How the spark and carryover work together

Unlike the spark, featured-character hard-pity progress carries over to the next limited Trekker banner within this launch-era structure. Claiming the spark reward does not consume that accumulated recruitment progress.

ExampleHard-pity positionResult
Start with no accumulated progress0 toward 160Full guarantee distance remains
Make 120 pulls without recruiting the featured Trekker120 toward 160Spark claim becomes available
Claim the featured Trekker through the sparkStill 120 toward 160Recruitment guarantee remains separate
Move to the next limited Trekker banner120 carried forwardAt most 40 more pulls to its featured guarantee

The example depends on never recruiting the featured character during those 120 pulls. If you obtain that character through recruitment, the hard-pity counter resets at that point.

Check your recruitment results before budgeting around carryover. Total pulls on a banner and current progress toward hard pity can be very different numbers.

Disc Banner Pity: 120 Pulls and a 75/25 Split

Disc recruitment uses a different set of numbers. Under the launch-era limited Disc rules, the featured Disc is guaranteed within 120 recruitment attempts, with a 2% base 5-star rate.

The Stella Sora pity system also gives featured Discs a larger share of 5-star results: a 75/25 featured-to-off-banner split, compared with the Trekker banner’s 50%.

Featured hard guaranteeWithin 160 pullsWithin 120 pulls
Separate cumulative sparkOne claim at 120 pullsNo separate spark
Early featured resultResets featured hard pityResets featured hard pity

The matching number can be misleading: the character spark and Disc hard pity both involve 120 pulls, but they behave differently.

A character spark survives an early featured-character recruitment. Disc hard pity resets when you recruit the featured Disc early. You do not keep accumulating toward a separate, nonresetting Disc claim.

Can you lose the Disc 75/25 repeatedly?

Yes. An off-banner 5-star Disc does not make the next 5-star automatically featured. Consecutive misses remain possible before the featured guarantee.

Plan around the guarantee when you need a specific Disc. Treat the 75/25 split as a chance to finish earlier, rather than a promise that every pull session will end cheaply.

Build your Trekker roster before allocating heavily to equipment banners. Trekkers establish your team options; Discs provide passive stats and effects that support those teams. Once you have the characters you want, budget for their equipment separately.

Planning Your Pulls for Version 2.0

Use the Stella Sora pity system to set a stopping point before opening the recruitment screen. Your plan should name the target, identify the applicable banner rules, and account for the correct tickets.

Version 2.0’s recruitment lineup includes Firstlight Noya, her featured Disc, an anniversary recruitment event, and an upcoming Firefly rerun.

Check which recruitment accepts each ticket before including it in your target’s budget. Keep named anniversary tickets separate in your planning until you have matched them to the appropriate event.

Set your budget around the character you want

For launch-era limited Trekker banners, follow this sequence:

  1. Check your carried hard-pity progress. Count from your last recruited featured Trekker.
  2. Check the current banner’s spark progress. This is separate from carryover.
  3. Choose your stopping condition. Decide whether you will stop at the first featured copy or continue toward the spark.
  4. Review the expiration time. An unfinished spark disappears with its banner.
  5. Recalculate after a featured recruitment. Hard pity resets even though spark progress remains.

Save premium currency between targets instead of spending simply because a counter is close. If you dislike the current featured character, reaching its guarantee can leave you with a character you did not want and reset progress intended for a later banner.

Also keep Opening Act separate from ordinary limited recruitment. Its beginner system offers up to 200 recruitments while letting you keep one final result; it does not mean you retain every character generated across those attempts.

FAQ

Does the Stella Sora pity system carry over between banners?

Under the launch-era limited Trekker rules, progress toward the 160-pull featured-character guarantee carries over to the next limited Trekker banner. The separate 120-pull spark does not carry over and expires with its banner.

Does getting an off-banner 5-star reset character pity?

An off-banner 5-star does not reset progress toward the featured-character hard guarantee. Recruiting the featured Trekker resets it. Losing the 50/50 also does not guarantee that your next 5-star will be featured.

Does claiming the 120-pull spark reset the 160-pull guarantee?

No. The spark claim is separate from recruiting the featured character. If you reach 120 pulls without recruiting the featured Trekker, claim the spark, and move to the next applicable limited banner, you retain that hard-pity progress.

Do limited Disc banners have a spark?

The launch-era limited Disc structure has a 120-pull featured guarantee rather than a separate spark. Its base 5-star rate is 2%, and its featured-to-off-banner split is 75/25. Recruiting the featured Disc early resets its hard-pity counter.
