What Does a Stella Sora Disc Do?
Your Stella Sora disc setup shapes both your team’s stats and the buffs you build toward during Ascension. Matching those effects to your main Trekker’s damage type helps you turn equipment into a coherent build. Start your Stella Sora disc choices with the damage your carry actually deals, then plan the music notes needed to activate your Harmony skills.
Discs are team equipment. You can equip three main discs and three support discs, but those slots contribute differently.
| Disc component | What it provides | Activation requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Main disc | Base stats, a Melody skill, and Harmony skills | Equip it in a main slot |
| Melody skill | The main disc’s primary passive effect | No music-note threshold; individual effects can have combat triggers |
| Harmony skills | Additional passive effects | Collect the required types and quantities of music notes |
| Support disc | Base stats and starting music notes | Equip it in a support slot |
That distinction matters when arranging your equipment. A disc with a useful combat passive belongs in a main slot if you want that passive active. Putting it in a support slot gives you its stats and starting notes.
Read the whole skill description before choosing. An Aqua disc can fit your team’s element while emphasizing a damage category your carry barely uses. Likewise, a passive that activates through Main Skill or Ultimate casts needs those actions to happen during combat.
Treat your main slots as the foundation of the build. Then use support discs to help supply the stats and starting notes that complement those choices.

Match Disc Effects to Your Carry’s Damage
Before comparing rarity, identify your carry’s damage type after applying the potentials you intend to use. Skill DMG, Auto Attack DMG, Ultimate DMG, and Mark DMG are distinct considerations.

Allie illustrates why that extra check matters. Both of her main-slot builds use her two-phase Ultimate, but their potentials change how its damage scales.
| Build | Important damage interaction | Disc effects to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Allie’s Skill build | Clothesline Stance converts Ultimate Phase 2 damage into Skill DMG | Match bonuses to Aqua Skill damage |
| Allie’s Mark build | Wide Blade Arc converts Ultimate Phase 1 and Auto Attack damage into Mark DMG | Match bonuses to Aqua Mark damage |
| Auto Attack-focused Chitose | The build emphasizes her Auto Attacks | Prioritize effects that support that damage focus |
For Allie’s Skill build, Quick Sweep and Multi Sweep help generate Sweep Marks for free Phase 2 casts. Clothesline Stance then makes those casts benefit from Skill DMG bonuses. Her damage scaling follows the conversion, even though the attack originates from an Ultimate phase.
Her Mark build works differently. Wide Blade Arc converts Phase 1 and Auto Attack damage into Mark DMG while also allowing Auto Attack DMG bonuses to increase Mark DMG. It reduces her Mark Crit Rate by 100%, so that setup does not crit.
Do not chase Crit bonuses specifically for that Mark build. Focus your comparisons on effects it can use.
Team composition matters, too. Several core Allie potentials require an all-Aqua squad. Her Mark build also relies heavily on Suntide Willow’s Mark support.
When evaluating a Stella Sora disc, read it alongside your carry’s potentials and teammates. A strong passive still needs the right team to put it to work.
Plan Music Notes and Harmony Skills in Ascension
Ascension ties your discs to the loadout you take into other content. During a run, you collect potentials and music notes, then finish with a team setup carrying the benefits you acquired.

Music notes provide stats and activate Harmony skills when their requirements are met. Additional notes of the required types can raise those skills further.
Build your Stella Sora disc plan before entering Ascension:
- Read the Harmony requirements on your main discs. Identify the note types and quantities each skill needs.
- Check your support discs’ starting notes. Use those contributions when comparing possible support arrangements.
- Collect matching notes during the run. Notes come from defeated enemies and can also appear in the shop.
- Pursue your core potentials alongside those notes. Your carry still needs the effects that make its intended build function.
- Review the finished loadout. Check its potentials and activated Harmony skills before taking it into harder fights.
A high loadout rank and a functioning build are related goals, but they measure different things. Music notes contribute to your Ascension score even when they do not activate a disc buff. Core potentials determine whether a setup such as Allie’s free Phase 2 loop comes together.
Keep that distinction in mind when spending at the shop. Pick up the potentials your build depends on, and use note purchases to complete relevant Harmony requirements.
After clearing an Ascension difficulty for the first time, you can use a ticket to repeat that stage faster when creating another loadout. Use that option when changing teams or rebuilding around a different set of discs.
You can also dismantle unwanted loadouts for shop currency, subject to a weekly acquisition limit. Review which loadouts you still use before clearing out older setups.
Aqua Disc Examples: Bedtime Story and Sword Against Stream
Aqua teams offer a useful example of how disc selection connects to damage categories. Bedtime Story supports both Aqua Skill and Mark interactions, while Sword Against Stream provides buffs for Aqua compositions.

Bedtime Story’s Skill and Mark Effects
Bedtime Story is Allie’s signature disc. Its effects connect Main Skill and Ultimate usage with Skill damage, Mark damage, and an enemy damage-taken debuff.
| Bedtime Story effect | Trigger | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Melody skill: Storybook | The main Aqua Trekker casts a Main Skill or Ultimate | Grants 7.5% Skill DMG per stack for 20 seconds, up to three stacks |
| Storybook damage interaction | A Trekker with Storybook deals damage | The target takes 12% more Aqua Skill DMG and Aqua Mark DMG |
| New Start Book | The main Aqua Trekker triggers Aqua Mark | Grants Reverie stacks equal to their Storybook stacks, increasing Mark DMG for eight seconds, up to 10 stacks |
| Innocent Reverie | Gain Reverie | Raises squad Aqua DMG for eight seconds; maximum Reverie also grants the main Trekker Skill Crit DMG |
Each Storybook stack provides 7.5% Skill DMG, up to three stacks. Its enemy debuff also benefits Aqua Mark damage, giving the disc value beyond the Skill bonus alone.
New Start Book additionally increases the squad’s Aqua Skill DMG. Its Reverie mechanic connects the two sides of Allie’s kit: build Storybook through skill usage, then trigger Aqua Mark to gain Mark damage buffs.
For Allie’s Skill build, pay attention to Storybook’s Skill DMG and Innocent Reverie’s Skill Crit DMG. For her Mark build, focus on Reverie, squad Aqua DMG, and the increased Aqua Mark damage taken by enemies.
Remember the Mark build’s Crit restriction. Innocent Reverie contains a Crit benefit, but that portion does not help a setup whose Mark damage cannot crit. Judge the complete package instead of counting every listed bonus as equally useful.
Bedtime Story also supports Aqua teams with Chitose on the field. Read its effects against the specific Chitose build you use, particularly when comparing Auto Attack and Skill-focused damage.
Sword Against Stream’s Aqua Focus
Sword Against Stream is a five-star disc introduced alongside Chitose at global launch. It provides buffs for Aqua-based teams.
It also includes a traditional Japanese-style musical track, a Chitose memory story, and cover art that can be used as the in-game homepage background.
Those extras give the disc appeal beyond combat. For a build decision, however, compare its Aqua buffs with the damage categories and triggers your team uses.
Do not assume a character-associated Stella Sora disc only has value with that character. Check whether the effects apply to your main Trekker, the squad, or the enemy, then compare them with your actual lineup.
Choose Selectors and Disc Rewards Around Your Team
Disc selectors let you fill a specific equipment gap. Make that choice after settling on a carry and build direction, so you can compare passives with a clear purpose.
Several acquisition routes provide discs or disc selectors.
| Acquisition route | Disc-related reward |
|---|---|
| Missions and progression rewards | Four-star disc selectors |
| Day-five login and starter event | Five-star disc selectors |
| Cataclysm Survivor shop | Five-star discs purchasable with earned medals |
| Limited-time event shops | Five-star discs and other materials |
| Disc recruitment | Discs obtained through pulls |
The global launch reward announcement included 70 Disc tickets and two five-star discs of choice. Those were launch rewards; check your account’s available rewards and event conditions before planning around them.
For selectors you already own, follow this sequence:
- Choose the carry’s build. Decide which damage categories your discs need to support.
- Inspect your main slots. Look for passives that work with that build.
- Check Harmony requirements. Compare the notes needed across your chosen main discs.
- Review support slots. Factor in their starting notes and base stats.
- Spend the selector on a clear gap. Read its available choices before committing.
Use four-star selectors to round out a team’s disc options. Keep element alignment in view, then check the actual buffs rather than stopping at the element icon.
Character recruitment also supplies disc pulls: every 10 character pulls grants a free disc pull, while the first set of 10 pulls on a new banner grants three instead. Count those opportunities before committing premium currency to disc recruitment.
Keep your Stella Sora disc spending tied to a specific improvement. Identify the passive, damage bonus, or starting-note contribution you want before choosing a selector or spending pulls.
Once the equipment is arranged, finish the job in Ascension. Your Stella Sora disc setup depends on both the discs you equip and the notes and potentials you collect for its loadout.
FAQ
How many discs can you equip in Stella Sora?
A team can equip three main discs and three support discs. Main discs provide Melody and Harmony skills alongside stats. Support discs provide base stats and starting music notes.
How do you activate Stella Sora disc Harmony skills?
Collect the required types and quantities of music notes during Ascension. More matching notes can raise Harmony skill levels further. Check those requirements before choosing notes from the shop.
Is Bedtime Story only useful for Allie?
No. Its effects support Aqua Skill and Mark damage, and it can also benefit Aqua teams with Chitose as the on-field Trekker. Compare each effect with your carry’s build.
Should you choose a five-star disc just because it matches your element?
Check its damage bonuses and activation conditions first. Element matching alone does not tell you whether its effects support Auto Attacks, Skills, or Marks. Choose around the damage your completed build actually deals.
